Beautiful work, with strong contrast, by the Avignon painter Gustave Vidal which represents fishermen mending their nets in the small port of La Ponche in Saint-Tropez. In the background, we can see the Tour-Vieille built in the 15th century to prevent any attack from the sea. 

Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who will encourage his students including Gustave Vidal to go and paint outdoors. He will be influenced by the new school of Avignon and the abstract painters. His style, clean, mixes knife technique and pictorial stylization. 
He has received numerous awards since his debut and has exhibited his work worldwide. 

Dimensions: 31 x 47 cm unframed and 53 x 68 cm with its modern wooden frame.
