Beautiful luminous work by the painter Marius Roux-Renard which represents a path descending on the banks of the Rhône in Villeneuve- les-Avignon at the end of the day.
The painter played on the play of light and contrasts to bring his work to life.
A student of Pierre Grivolas then of Elie Delaunay and Gustave Moreau, Marius Roux-Renard exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1893 to 1932 where he won several awards, notably the Bashkirtseff Prize in 1898.
In 1894, he took up sculpture before returning fully to painting. He exhibited landscapes of Avignon and Villeneuve les Avignon at the Salon des Indépendants from 1906 to 1910. He also frequented the Salons of Avignon, Marseille and Nîmes.
He made the ceiling to order for the Caisse Epargne and the offices of the Société du Canal de Provence in Carpentras.
His works are today kept in several museums in Avignon, in Paris Qacentina.
In 1992, the Louis Vouland Museum in Avignon dedicated an exhibition to him.
Dimensions: 39 x 56 cm without frame and 57 x 72 cm with its wooden frame.
