Luminous work by the Marseille painter Pierre-Paul Emiot which represents a view of the village of Saint-Tropez in the Var. On the right you can see the fishermen's quarter "la Ponche" with the Old Tower and on the left the bell tower of the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church.
A student of Lavalley, he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1914 to 1935 and at the Salon d'hiver in 1929. Pierre-Paul Emiot specialized in landscapes and seascapes in a singular style. Art critics of the time described him above all as a colorist “with a composition full of charm, (…) reporting enchanting visions, with the poetry of coasts charred by the sun”.
Pierre Paul Emiot strives to transcribe Mediterranean landscapes with an ardent and harmonious tone in the composition.
