CASILE Alfred (1848-1909)
"Sunset on the islands of Frioul in Marseille"
Oil on canvas (old lined),
Signed lower right,
Beautiful work of the Marseille painter Alfred Casile which represents a view of the islands of Frioul and If castle in Marseille during a sunset.
The artist transcribes perfectly the warm atmosphere of the Mediterranean by the play of light and contrasts.
The artist uses a palette of colors voluntarily limited by his taste of synthesis and his desire to transcribe a sober Provencal landscape.
Alfred Casile adopts a clean technique, with amazing colors. Its skies are composed of gray and pale blue, ingeniously mixed with pink, in a poetic blur and an indecisive light.
A student of Jeanron in Marseille, he started at the Salon des artistes français in 1879.
He moved to Paris in 1880 and became Guillaumet's pupil.
He then attended the painters Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley and Claude Monet.
After a trip to Italy, he settled permanently in Marseille in 1891.
During his participation in exhibitions his talent is recognized and rewarded many times.
Size: 33 x 46 cm without frame and 51.5 x 64.5 cm with its beautiful frame of the house RG.
